When we refer to “Shipcosts”, we mean the Shipcosts AS entity that acts as the controller or processor of your information.

Information we collect
We may collect the following information:
- Name and job title
- Contact information such as email and phone number
- Demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests
- Company names and mailing addresses
Shipcosts collects personal information on certain areas of the Sites when you register for company blog updates and our newsletters. By registering for Shipcosts’s newsletters or updates, you agree to receive the correspondence to which you have subscribed at the e-mail address that you provided at registration. By sending us the request for quotes you provide us your contact details so we can reply to you.
How we use the information we gather
We require the above information (other than Client’ account data) to understand your needs, and provide you with a better service, and in particular:
- For internal record keeping
- To improve the Services
- To send you periodically promotional materials about new products, offers or company updates, using your email or mailing addresses which you have provided
The personal data we collect may be used where we have your specific consent to do so, or where Shipcosts has a legitimate interest in or other legal basis for processing such information. In some situations, the collection of personal data may be required for the operation of the Sites or to provide certain services or products.
With regards to Client’ data, if you use our Services, for example, our web-application, you need to create your account and therefore, give us your personal data, such as names, job titles, company names, contact information, billing details. If you choose to withhold any personal information requested by us, it may not be possible for you to gain access to certain parts of our Websites and Services, or for us to respond to your query.
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Despite these precautions, however, Shipcosts cannot guarantee that unauthorized persons will not obtain access to your personal data.
Data recipients and data transfers
Shipcosts will not intentionally disclose or transfer your personal data to third parties without your consent, whether for such third parties’ own marketing purposes or otherwise, except as follows.
We may disclose information about you:
- If we are required to do so by law or legal process;
- To law enforcement authorities or other government officials;
- When we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual illegal activity;
- To prevent fraud against Shipcosts, our subsidiaries, affiliates and/or business partners;

Data retention policy
Shipcosts retains personal data, as necessary, for the duration of the relevant business relationship. We may also retain personal data for longer than the duration of the business relationship should we need to retain it to protect ourselves against legal claims, use it for analysis or historical record-keeping, or comply with our information management policies and schedules, but not more than 6 months after the relationship is finalized. If you request that we delete your personal data, Shipcosts will make reasonable attempts to delete all instances of the information in their entirety. The Sites are not designed for or directed at children 13 years of age or younger, and Shipcosts does not intentionally collect or maintain personal data about anyone under this age.
Controlling your personal information
You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following way: If you previously agreed to us using your personal information to create an account or for direct marketing purposes, you may change your mind at any time by writing to or emailing to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
You have the right to request access to the personal data that we have collected about you for the purposes of reviewing, modifying, or requesting deletion of the data. You may also have the right to request a copy of the personal data that we have collected about you and to have any inaccuracies in that data corrected.
